There is no shortcut to writing a good legal CV. Artificial intelligence may produce something that looks polished at first glance, but in reality it often does more damage than good.
AI generated CVs are immediately recognisable. The format is off and usually the layout is awkward. The sentences are unnaturally smooth but strangely empty. To anyone who reads legal CVs daily, it is obvious that the document has not been written by the person whose name is at the top.
The first danger is that AI destroys authenticity. It removes your personality, your tone, and your professional judgement. The result is a CV that sounds generic and formulaic. Phrases like results driven legal professional or passionate about excellence appear repeatedly and they tell partners and HR managers nothing about who you are or what you can do.
The second danger is accuracy. AI tools invent. They distort timelines, misdescribe experience, and even add fabricated responsibilities or deals. In the legal profession, accuracy and integrity are everything. A single inconsistency on a CV is often enough for a recruiter or partner to stop reading.
A third problem is presentation. AI cannot replicate the structure, clarity and order expected in a well written legal CV. It misuses headings, overuses adjectives, and fails to grasp the importance of concise, fact based writing. The overall effect is a document that feels artificial and unfocused.
Law firms are also alert to the problem. Many now use software that detects AI generated content. When that happens, it does not matter how qualified you are. Your application immediately loses credibility. A firm that values trust, discretion and attention to detail will not risk hiring someone who presents an AI written CV as their own work.
Your CV is your professional brief. It is your evidence of skill, experience and integrity. It should sound like you, look like you, and reflect the standard you bring to your work. AI cannot do that. It can only mimic.
At DAC Recruitment, we help our candidates craft CVs that stand out for the right reasons. We refine every CV to highlight genuine experience and strengths. We will not share a CV with our law firm clients unless we believe it represents the very best of the individual behind it. We do not rush the process. We take genuine care of our candidates’ futures.
